Since some of the MADNESS userids are concealed, and I can't find
but 2 non-concealed .IT users, there is some ambiquity.  I also
did a cursory check for bitnet nodes that contained a "@I" (which
are mostly country IT).
 
Reading the RECEIVED headers from the bottom up through and
including VM.CNUCE.CNR.IT (aka bitnet ICNUCEVM) are probably all
due to the LISTSERV distribute algorithm.
 
You might want to issue a
 
SET MADNESS SHORT822 FOR *@*.IT
and for any other Italian BITNET nodes that you might be able
to identify as subscribed.
