Hi,

I'm in the process of establishing a gateway for the APAR-L list. I'm
proposing that the list be uni-directional, and I also would like to modify
my list header so that only subscribers can post. However, I do not want
the list to be a true "moderated" list, in that you have one person (me)
where all the posts go before they are sent to the list.

I'm planning on changing my list header to the following:

   Send=editor
   [log in to unmask] (Jim Drzymala)
   Editor=(APAR-L)

Will the above send a copy of all posts to me before going to the list? If
so, that is not what I want; I already get enough mail:-)

I would like to avoid setting Send=Private, because I would like to see when
a non-subscriber trys to post something to the list.

Is there a preferred way to set up the list header, so that only subscribers
can post, and posts sent by valid subscribers are automatically sent to the
list wihtout any intervention on my part?

A copy of my unmodified list header appears below:

* Apparition List
*
*  Review= Public
*  Subscription= Open,Confirm
*  Send= Public
*  Notify= Yes
*  Reply-to= List,Respect
*  Files= No
*  Validate= Store only
*  Stats= Normal,Private
*  Errors-To= Owner
*  Notebook= Yes,N5/VMSYSU:LISTSERV.APAR_L,weekly,public
*  Digest=Yes,Same,Weekly,Sunday,Size(1750)
*  Mail-Via= Distribute
*  Ack= No
*  Default-Options= Repro
*  Confidential= No
*
*  Owner= drzymala@ubvm      (Jim Drzymala)

Thank you for any suggestions you may be able to offer.
