The 'Non-Member' parameter was introduced in 14.3 so it won't work under
1.8e (or 14.2 in the new nomenclature).
>I am also listed as an editor with the address I send from. I am
>owner from a different address.

>according to the list owner documentation, the command above should
>not cause a confirmation to be sent to me because I am a subscriber.

This is by design and is documented. From the LISTSERV Keywords page
online <http://www.lsoft.com/manuals/1.8e/sitemgr/listkeyw.html#kSend>:
"When the "Confirm" option is enabled on a moderated list (for instance,
Send=Editor,Confirm), mail sent by any editor or moderator requires
confirmation by that editor or moderator. This is to prevent a user from
forging mail to the list under an editor's or moderator's return address.
[...]
* Send= Editor,Hold,Confirm
This allows you to "OK" both subscriber submissions and editor/moderator
approvals, as described above."
