Any list that does NOT confirm new subscriptions and is open to
Internet-wide subscription spoofing is misconfigured (IMNSHO).

Please do your potential subscribers (and existing ones), your LISTSERV
host, and your bandwidth a favor and have at least:

* SUBSCRIPTION= OPEN,CONFIRM
* SEND= PRIVATE (or some variation of OTHER than SEND= PUBLIC)

One of the "nice" things about subscription confirmation is that it helps
ensure that (potential) subscribers can "read" and have some familiarity
with their email system.  If not, you are going to have subscriber
interaction problems.
