Simply removing the subscription will end the gateway service.  I've done
this for my lists already, as the Usenet feed was just too full of spam and
stuff.  One list (buslib-l, for business librarians) went from 1000 to 1400
active subscribers within a week of when the change was made, and a few
whined, but we just couldn't handle it any more.

However, the lists still exist in the bit.listserv.* hierarchy on many
sites, containing nothing of substance, and I'd like to get ride of THOSE
artifacts of the former lists.  How do we do THAT?
