The "=20" phenomenon is actually a result of
the encoding type "quoted-printable".  This encoding is
an alternative to "base-64", and is used for messages
that are "mostly" ASCII text, but contain some binary
data.  The "=20" signifies
an "end-of-line"; that is, for mail readers that
understand it, "wrap-to-the-next-line".
