If your list already has a notebook log for messages, then the short
answer is: it's already in place. Daily digest is the default for
notebooked lists. Otherwise, enter a Digest keyword in your header, such as

   Digest= Yes,Same,Daily

"Same" refers to the disk the notebook is saved on; if there's no notebook
log for your list now, you'll need to identify a specific disk in that
place. For the long answer, retrieve the notes on release 1.7f by sending
the following to LISTSERV@SEARN :

// JOB ECHO=NO
DATABASE SEARCH DD=A
//A DD *
S * IN LSTOWN-L.1727
PRINT
/*

and reading the material on Digests and Indexes (which begins around line
300).

If you do need to edit your header and don't know the basics of that,
then note the following. Send the command

   GET listname LIST (HEADER NOL PW=password

to your Listserv, with the appropriate listname and password filled in.
When the header is retrieved, add the "Digest= " keyword (followed by your
selected values) to any of the header lines or to a new line that has a
"*" in column one. Then just PUT the header back (having filled in the
appropriate password in the PUT command).

As the founder of EDS Corp. is fond of saying, "it's just that simple".
