yeah, but those braindead mail systems are still crummy since they send the
return receipt to smtp from address instead of the address in the from:
header.
 
in any event, craig, since you seemed to imply that you have just started
to get many copies of the receipt acknowledgment, you may want to check the
mail headers of any recent subscribers who post frequently. look for
someone who has header (possibly an x-header) which requests a return
receipt acknowledgment.

fwiw, i believe pegasus mail's receipt "feature" uses an x-header that is
different from the usual one

the solution is to eradicate this feature for systems used for the net.
