It is NOT subscribed, but possibly some sort of loop (?) due to what may
have been a mis-configured mail system or perhaps some authentication
system that was unavailable. LISTSERV(R) generates RFC821 MAIL
FROM:<[log in to unmask]> on list distributions. If that mail
fails and the failing MTA does the "right" thing, it returns the mail to
that RFC821 address.

Then LISTSERV(R) check's the list's definition for an * ERRORS-TO=
keyword and directs the bounced output to that address.

The MTA at the LIST.UVM.EDU seems to be based upon AIX (I'm not familiar
s/ SENDMAIL):

220 list.uvm.edu ESMTP Sendmail AIX4.2/UCB 8.7; Wed, 15 Jul 1998 16:04:24
-0400
250 <"|/usr/local/bin/lsv_amin /home/listserv/spool
owner-safety"@list.uvm.edu>

When I sent mail to the [log in to unmask] it was "delivered" to
the server MTA and has not yet bounced.

I do not know if it will be returned, and if it is, if it will have the
same sort of diagnostic. The ERRORS-TO= [log in to unmask] (SAFETY
error bin). This is a VM/CMS system NOT running a mailer:

Maybe Ralph S. will respond.

(Where's M.K. when you need'em?)
