I'm not sure how to be clearer that I'm referring to the subject tag.
I just checked my personal (subscriber) settings and they're set to
<LISTSERV-style, with list name in subject>
Just as they have been for over a decade. I don't know why all 900 users
of these lists would have their individual settings changed?
