Hi Ben:

I'm re-thinking whether I should use SUBEDIT-MAIN template (which currently
doesn't exist on our LISTSERV) or Note3 in your original instructions (redirect
to a generic web page that asks them to check their email and confirm).

The user currently (after filling in the signin form) gets directed to a screen
where they can change their subscriber options (i.e. Subscription type, Mail
Header Style, Acknowledgements etc.) - but this could be confusing to them
(since all we want them to do is click on the email confirmation link and not
see the subscriber options page).

I'm hoping the following questions will be relatively quick and easy to answer.

Here are my questions on SUBEDIT-MAIN template:

1. Do I need a SUBEDIT-MAIN template for this signup to work?
2. Do I need to create a SUBEDIT-MAIN template if it doesn't exist?
3. I hate sending a PW (personal listserv password). Is this MY password?
4. Is my password used for ANY user signing up to a list?
5. Is there only one SUBEDIT-MAIN template with a PUT for each list?
6. Does the JOIN_URL point back to the original signup screen?
7. If so, our JOIN_URL is http://listserv.lgca.org/signup/index.html
8. It appears 'joining' the URL gets the variable data to display, right?
9. If setup correctly, user will not be directed to subscriber options page?

Here are my questions on a simple redirect:
1. Does the redirect html go inside the SUBEDIT-MAIN template?
2. Your original Note3 says 'replace SUBEDIT-MAIN with simple redirect
3. For fun, I tried the redirect on the submit buttons (orig signup form)
4. Above redirect in original signup form did not work
5. I figure a redirect in the original signup form is not a good idea
6. I'm not sure how to prevent subscriber options page from displaying
7. Will the redirect really prevent subscriber options page from displaying?
8. Do you prefer SUBEDIT-MAIN over the simple redirect?

I don't want to necessarily take the 'easy' way out (redirect) when perhaps
the SUBEDIT-MAIN template is the better way to go in the long run.

Thanks again for taking the time out of your busy schedule to help me
complete this. Again, my apologies for not being able to figure this out.
Hopefully your posts will help someone else who is just getting started with
LISTSERVs and may have similar questions to mine.

Regards,

Dan
