RENEWAL processing has its pros and cons.  On one particular list that I
used it, folks were replying back to the list and not the LISTSERV.  That
generated MORE replies from the other subscribers.  it was a vicious (or
it viscous ;-)) cycle.

Of course, as we all know, email addresses can and do change.  Thus,
though a subscriber is able to RECEIVE email, they can not alter their
own subscription e.g., CONFIRM.
