Is the neptune and lbs.lon.ac.uk problem a problem with bitnet
and internet addresses?

I seem to have both a bitnet address (emarat@harvarda) and an internet
address ([log in to unmask]).

When I send mail to a list directly the list "sees" my bitnet address.
When I reply to a message the list sees my internet address. The
same thing happens if I try an execute a listserv command.

I happen to be subscribe to AFA-FIN by my internet address. When I send
the message "query AFA-FIN" to the listserv it tells me I am not
subscribed. If I then reply to that message with "query afa-fin"
I get back a message with my settings. I haven't tried posting
anything to the list but I assume the same thing would happen.

It seems that to ever be able to initate a message you would need to
be subscribed by the bitnet address to all lists. Is this true? How come?
