Joe, it would help if you knew what you were talking about.  Yes, the
technical details above are correct.  I know that.  But....the difference
is that an individual can make a copy for personal use (as in seeing it in
your web browser) but can not make MULTIPLE copies of it for any purpose
without permission (i.e. sending it to mailing list).

Well, notice has nothing to do with it.  This very email is copyrighted as
I type it, and then send it.  However, I don't mind what you do with my
postings, and I'll always stand behind them.

To each his own.  In over nine years of managing a dozen lists, I've
unsubbed five or six people out of an average membership for all lists of
about seven thousand.  And they've all been warned after their first
offense.  A couple were even given two warnings.  They knew the rules all
along, and particularly after their warning(s).  If you want to call that
totalitarianism, be my guest.  I call it active management, and the vast
majority of listmembers appreciate it.  Those who don't are welcome to
start their own list.  As far as I know, none have done so.
