In reply to my question as to how the mail options were set, Michael Linval

DIGEST MIME does contain both the attachment listing, and the plain text
message index. In fact, it contains all of plain text, and HTML, text.

IF you can't see that it may be because of how your mail system handles
DIGEST MIME. In my UNIX Pine system what I see is a list of
parts/attachments. Scrolling down past that, I see

      [ Part 2: "Included Message" ]

That is the plain text digest index. The plain text parts of the
individual postings in the digest then follow as "Part 3:", etc.
Nondisplayed attachments are labeled. I can scroll through the plain text
(includes HTML with all the markup, if present), if I want to, or I can go
back to the parts/attachment listing, activate it, and select items to
read, or to save to another file.

The material is there, but your email system may not automatically show
it.
