I maintain and co-maintain a number of health related email lists .. and although
we don't allow commercial advertising on the lists..even in sig files,  we certainly do
allow pointers to and posts about health related info, even if it's commercial... and it
often is.

We don't vet any of that stuff because none of us are really qualified .. and we don't
want to play net Mommy/Daddy for our subscribers.. we let them determine what is
valid, what is not.

I agree with you Pete .. this would be a good solution for those who don't allow any
"commercial" info on their lists.. it would save listserv bandwidth and archive space
and still make the info quite available for those who need it, and is much better than
sending private email "posts" to subscribers which to me is nothing but pure spam.
