Where is the catalog? How does one review it and modify it?

How does one ADD the file Welcome to my list?

Is there a book on LISTSERV for dummies like me, I am so frustrated an
excited about this forum.

Thank you all in advance.

GET DEFAULT.MAILTPL

Frequently, folks add a file called

listname WELCOME

The "welcome" file type is automatically sent to new subscribers (unless
the owner ADDed the subscriber in QUIET mode).

Otherwise, just store the FAQ file (as usual) in the catalog and alert
others to its existence, perhaps through the WELCOME file.

(follow-up, if any, to lstown-l).
