Hi Wayne,

Thank heavens I think I can finally help out here rather than just ask
questions the time to this list!

I own a bunch of Yahoo Groups and I'm pretty familiar with how they
work. The "Egroups" merger with Yahoo took place several years ago and the
Yahoo Groups now operate almost the exact same way that Egroups operated
years ago.

It sounds to me that (some of) your listserv subscribers also also members
of the chiari group on Yahoo. There's nothing wrong or even unusual about
that. If you're a member of the chiari group and also a listserv member,
yes, you'll get two posts, independent of each other. Am I understanding
this situation correctly?

And yes, Yahoo Groups DOES have a standard footer with a graphic
advertisement (irritating ads, no doubt) plus some instructions on how to
unsubscribe and a reference to Yahoo terms of service. As you said,
"blah!" You can remove those ads for a fee, but I wouldn't do it. Just
tolerate them, no biggie.

Each member of a Yahoo group can set his own email delivery option to ...

      1. Individual emails
      2. Daily digests
      3. Special Notices (from the owner with special codes)
      4. No email - read on the web only

If you are the owner of a group, you can see everyone's email distribution
option - and change it if necessary. If you're NOT the owner, you can set
your own option only.

Wayne, I don't see any real connection between your list and the chiari
Yahoo group. I doubt you'll see any difference if you use the BCC address
vs the To or CC address lines. I think you are seeing two different
discussion groups responding in slightly different ways to the same email
directed to both lists.

If I can help you any further, please feel free to contact me off or on list.

Best regards,

Russ Hicks
