Back on February 4, 2000, I wrote <[log in to unmask]> and received
the message below. I never read the FAQ, as I was reporting abuse,
but perhaps it will answer your question. The message follows,
nothing else from me except my sig at the end (uninteresting headers
removed)--Byron:

Subject: Postmaster Mail Receipt Notification

Dear Internet Correspondent:

Thank you for writing with your question, concern or comment. You are
receiving this automatically generated message to acknowledge that
your mail has been received.

All messages received by the Postmaster staff are read and carefully
processed. We address every piece of e-mail that we receive and, when
possible, personally follow-up. The types of reports that should be
sent to postmaster are problems relating to Internet mail delivery,
Internet mail connectivity and routing, and system security.

We hope that the AOL Postmaster FAQ will address some of the other issues
that you may have written to us about. The AOL Postmaster FAQ can be
found at http://members.aol.com/postmaster/. We encourage you to use that
resource to find the answers to your questions.

Reports of Member abuse should be sent directly to [log in to unmask] All
reports of abuse will be fully investigated by our Abuse staff.

Messages received by our group that should be answered by other AOL
staff members will be forwarded to the appropriate departments.

During periods of high mail volume we may not be able to respond to every
piece of e-mail and will only do so if the answer to your question is not
covered in the Postmaster FAQ.

Thank you for writing,

Postmaster Team
