If the bozo is really and truly disrupting your list, state on the list,
without naming him, that certain conduct is inappropriate to the list
and warn him privately that he is subject to summary deletion and
filtering if he persists in his objectionable material.  You are the
listowner, after all, and you have the power, right and obligation
to keep your list reasonably on course and running smoothly (the
obligation is to yourself, your list and your host site, UBVM).
 
Free speech is a ticklish topic.  But, doing the equivalent of shouting
"Fire!" in a crowded theater is not free speech, nor is deliberately
inciting to riot.  If you are losing subscribers because of this person,
get rid of him, after a final warning.  He is still free to take his
thoughts to more appropriate venues, so you aren't stifling his free
speech.  You aren't saying he can't express himself, your saying he
can't express himself in an offensive manner on *your* list.
