I was speaking, as an example, of a subscriber who always got most of her
messages, but invariably, one or so a day would be missed. Although I
informed her, she said the library where she worked and had her account,
could not account for the reason she did not get all her messages. She
herself could post without any trouble. Eventually she was deleted by
Listserv. I could not explain it to her, and neither could her server.
She could access all of the messages on one of the services which picks up
my lists' messages and distributes (Jack Siler's website -
http://Birdingonth.net/birdmail.html/
and various others). She did not notice the missed messages to begin with.
Of course, there was always access to the archives, but it is just easier to
check the internet services that carry our messages.

About one-third of my subscribers are on nomail and read the messages from
those services where they can read others as well and not be bothered by
getting mail. And they can still post when desired (if they have complied
with my posting requirements).

Maybe this explains the auto-delete problems which do arise, of course, from
a delivery problem.

Barbara
