I merely remove all the commercial information from the posts if there
is anything about price or superiority to other products. All that is
left is little more than a conference type announcement in most cases.
The question of what is commercial is difficult. While I know that the
internet is strictly not commercial I am less certain about bitnet. If
you discussed or asked for recommendations about an educational
development like a new center from a list, is this commerical? It
actually has quite unexpected effects attracting students who were
looking for just such an opportunity from outside the list. If the
list is technical, many of the announcements will be for inventions
and innovations. I think that such announcements should be brief. If
participants want more information they will write and request it from
my experience. -- Paul.
