This question would probably be better asked on LSTSRV-L. I'll
answer it here, but if you have further questions along these lines
you may wish to move the discussion over there.

Do not edit .list files directly as it is pretty much guaranteed to
corrupt them.

It depends on what platform LISTSERV is installed on. For a Unix
installation the file would be named go.user. For NT installations
the file would be named site.cfg. On VMS installations I believe
it's called SITE_CONFIG.DAT, and for VM systems you'd look at the
various SYSVARS files on LISTSERV's 191 minidisk.

The site configuration variable that you want to modify is the
POSTMASTER variable. Add the email address that you'll be using to
manage the mailing lists to this variable and restart LISTSERV. You
should then be able to create mailing lists, make changes to the
mailing lists' setups, add and remove subscribers to any of the
mailing lists, etc.

Appendix C of the Site Manager's Manual contains additional
information about the POSTMASTER setting as well as other site
configuration variables.

Thanks,
