Concerning the recent debate in LSTOWN-L on list piracy:

I do not know whether I may call "pirates" the GreenDisk Journal.
However, I find deplorable that they request information for free
-taking advantage from the good will within Internet and the
research/academic comunity- and sell it afterwards.

I've got at gut feeling I have to inform other listowners on this:
I protested to GreenDisk and their reply is enclosed below.
What other reply may be expected from such mercenaries ?

A VERONICA search on GreenDisk may answer most questions.

And I say: As long as they do not freely release in INTERNET
the information they get *for free* no cooperation from
the FISH-ECOLOGY management will be possible.

    Regards,

        Aldo-Pier Solari (Listowner FISH-ECOLOGY, FISH-JUNIOR).

Mr. Solari,

Your unsolicited stab is not only unfair, unappreciated and out
of line, but your perception of our project is way off the mark.
Thousands of environmental researchers and projects around the
world send us information about their work, publications, etc.,
that we then consolidate in a form which allows our subscribers
to find out about it as they would not have before. This
is done at no additional use of financial or natural resources
on the part of the submitors.

The GreenDisk is presently used on research networks of NGOs,
government offices, libraries, universities., etc. all over
the world on each continent. Before sending such a venomous
note you could have the courtesy to contact us for more information
to better ascertain the goals and nature of this project. You
then would have discovered that we are applying to the U.S.
government for non-profit, tax exempt status, that we are sincere
in our goal of working toward a better environment, and of letting
people who might not otherwise find them discover worthwhile
projects throughout the world such as your FISH-JUNIOR list.
