Background:
I'm currently managing a worldwide discussion group for transpor-
tation public agencies and private consulting firms who contract
with the same ([log in to unmask]). The group has been online
since March and was formally announced in the July/August issue
of Internet World. The membership is 240+ and represents about
1/2 of the state DOT's, FHWA, some Canadian and Australian agencies,
a few European agencies, in addition to professors of transpor-
tation institutes from the same geo-area.
I wrote the software (idg) that currently supports this group based
on models I observed on the Internet including listserv's. However,
the benefit I have always appreciated about listserv is the continual
exposure groups have by being on a listserv (the master list) and
being mirrored on all the other well-known listserv's.
Question One:
How does one start a group a listserv? In my case, justification
is the fact that there are 240+ current members now.
Question Two:
How does a agency obtain a copy of the software implement a listserv
site (for an Unix ws)?
Question Three:
Or is it possible to continue supporting the group as it is now and
have it mirrored on a listserv?
Your response and any suggestions you have will be greatly appreciated.
