Change the Reply-to= value in your list header from "List" to "Sender"
Then the reply function will go to the original poster rather than to the list as a whole.

But . . . sigh.  <rant> My list subscribers are mostly professors
(therefore certified full, incapable of learning any more), and
they're using something like GroupWise (and MS mail products, too)
precisely because they're not supposed to have to know or do stuff
like this.  When I send them Steve's wonderfully clear explanation,
they'll find it incomprehensible and keep using the reply function .
. . nothing to be done, except feel frustrated that we're at the
mercy of these corporate behemoths.</rant>
