Rich has a good answer.  For the counter "answer" I manage many lists that
conceals everyone via the list definition keyword:

REVIEW= OWNER

I began using that years ago when SPAM was little more than spiced pork and
meat.

Often I use the same on local lists.  If someone needs to know who is
subscribed, I'll often ask "why?"
