I'm glad I asked this - even if my opinion was off the mark. At least now I
feel comfortable about it.

We do already have a listserv up and running, and this would be a new list -
I'll be the owner and one of the seven will be a co-owner (I've just decided
with Margaret's input.)
The incoming mail will be from various places we do business with, and the
listserv address would be given out as our "contact" address.

thanks you guys - I appreciate the input.

Marcia,
Is it correct to assume that you already have a listserv up and running &
you would be adding this list?

If not, it strikes me as a lot of overhead when a simple email address with
forwarding would do it. Is the incoming mail from a listserv? If so, then is
your list subscribing to a list?
Doug

Hi folks - Some of my co-workers are in need of a central email address set
up only to receive incoming information (mostly financial documents from the
federal government). There will be no discussion among the members, and no
outgoing information - 7 members all in the same office.

For a reason that escapes me, it's been decided that a listserv with an
alias is the way to go, rather than a single email address with multiple
users. I don't like this idea, but I'm not technically savvy enough to
defend my opinion.

What do you guys think? Is this an ok idea, or are we leaving ourselves
wide open to lord-knows-what?

thanks
