I have been mystified a bit by the header options.
 
I suppose one idea is to try setting your own header option to short,
normal or dual and see what difference it makes.
 
The listowner memo as i recall gives more of an explanation on these
settings than the refcard but trying it for yourself might be useful
after you review the docs.
