I posted this message a few days ago, but for some reason it did not get sent out.

I need help using TOPICS.

I own a moderated list called PHARMA-MKTING.

Currently, PHARMA-MKTING is used for discussions (DISCUSSION) and the distribution of
a monthly newsletter (NEWS) and email advertisements and other paid announcements
(ADV).

I would like to separate subscribers into 2 groups - those that receive the newsletter
and advertisements ONLY and those that receive every message sent to the list
(discussions, newsletter, and advertisements).

I plan to add the following topics by defining them in the list header:

* Topics= NEWS,ADV,DISCUSSION
* Default-Topics= NEWS,ADV,OTHER

I don't want those subscribers who want to participate in discussions to worry about
posting messages with a topic name in the subject line of their posts, nor do I want
to insert the topic name during the approval process for messages.

I am the only person that posts the newsletters and ADV messages to the list.

The messages that I post are not a problem, because I will properly format the sunject
line and the messages will get to the right people. I am concerned, however, about the
discussion messages posted by subscribers without ANY topic name in the subject line.
Will these messages get to the right people - i.e., all subscribers EXCEPT those who
just want to receive the newsletter?

Thanks for any help you can give me.
