It sounds like you don't have an up-to-date DEFAULT.MAILTPL.  This is
the template form:

>>> SUB_NEWNAME Message sent to user updating name only with SUBSCRIBE
The name associated with your &MAILBOX subscription has been changed to
"&NEWNAME".

and it is found between SUB_CLOSED and SUB_OWNER in my copy.
