Eric was speaking about folks who *need* this feature.  Lawyers,
for example, want verifiable proof.  And there's nothing more
verifiable than something in print, to a lawyer.  [why something
is more likely to be considered "true" when in print, I don't know,
although like everybody - I have my ideas...]

It's true.  If what you say is precious to you, and you don't want
it to be spread around, all you have to do is put a formidable
looking copyright notice at the bottom, and people will generally
listen to it.
 
Less to do with law, more to do with the way people work.
 
 
Inspired by Brad Templeton's method, I have put the following at the
bottom of my .sig:
