Well, no wonder I've recently been getting so much mail aimed at my
listname-request addresses that seem to think I'm a robot and include an
email account.

I do have some interest in the topic, but I think I'll take a pass on this
and all such servers. The listname-request naming convention has existed
since the days when .arpa was a valid domain (more than 20 years). It has
ALWAYS been a live person. As one of the persons using that mailbox
convention, I don't appreciate Johnny-come-lately software writers with no
sense of history. We had enough confused users without bassackwards
servers.
