It's John (not Jim) Harlan (no D on the end).  Yes, he started the list
here at IUPUI (not C) (Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis,
which is, according to Jeopardy!, the longest name of a college/university).
John is now at Miami University in Ohio.  In fact, I just got off the
phone with him.  He says, yes, he would have.  *grin*
