I am a listowner who began with no training.  Our list was maintained 400 miles
away.  The postmaster at University of Southern California was very helpful in
getting me started.  Fortunately, the list began small and grew slowly, so I
have only a few scars from the experience.
 
Now, I need a different sort of help.  I do not want to moderate the list, but
I need some input from others on what you do to focus the list.  How do you
eliminate repitition and chatter?  What do you do to encourage/discourage
participation?
