hi sorry for the short and not very descriptive question, which some of you
have mentioned did not quite explain the problem.
i'll try again. whenever listserv is expected to send an email to an
external email account (i used my hotmail account to test it) it comes back
with this error:

01 Feb 2002 14:14:42 Error connecting to MAIL.NESTA.ORG.UK, port 25: Unknown
error [10060]

it works fine when sending internally, however. i hope this is a bit more
descriptive...
at first i thought it might be the firewall, but that does not seem to be
the case and i don't really see what else it could be. also i checked to see
if the exchange server allows relay - which it does, so i am kind of at a
loss here
