As a Villanova professor (currently on leave), I have to
add my recommendation that the professors or their teaching
assistants MUST take the responsibility of getting the students'
e-mail addresses.

It is sort of mindboggling that there will be students who will
not show up until the first exam -- and who will complain to the
administration that "they didn't know they were supposed to give
the professor their email address" -- but it will happen.

Next time put it in the course descriptions.
