Here are the test results that I said I would run.

I sent this command and a test message :( to the list at the same time
to get a ACK number.

QUERY xxx WITH MAIL FOR *@* answer = 501

QUERY xxx WITH DIGEST FOR *@* answer = 160

query xxx with nomail for *@* answer = 31

query xxx with conceal for *@* answer = 4

rev xxx (noheader short answer = 692
                                            688 + 4 concealed

So Mail + digest = 661
ACK showed = 660 ??????? maybe we had someone subscribe in
                                  the middle of the test.

mail + digest + nomail = 692
REVIEW Short command =692 (688 + 4 concealed)

So it looks to me as if the ACK is a fairly accurate number for the
messages being sent out to subscribers. But it also seems that there
is no way to get that figure except for the ACK report.
