      Yes, it has.   I am the owner of several discussion groups which
were gatewayed by American as bit.listserv.xxx....

After getting the same messages, I queried Carl Whitman who is in
charge of their computing and networking systems.  They have phased
out the IBM machines that were doing the gatewaying and have
completely dropped the bitnet newsgroups.

   So if you had a mailing list called xxx-l  and it was gatewayed as
bit.listserv.xxx-l  they are now functioning quite separately.
  The only workaround so far is to post and reply from the Usenet
group, because that allows a Cc: to [log in to unmask]
   You cannot post or reply to the xxx-l list and expect it to be
duplicated on the newsgroup.  I have whitman's message here somewhere
and will post it.
   I am also looking for an alternative but so far have come up with
nothing concrete.  Any ideas?
