The documents that you have apparently read that refer to the LISTSERV
file archive system apply only to LISTSERV for VM.  That's why your
files don't show up.  You can make filelists and list them in the
SITE.CATALOG on non-VM LISTSERVers, but they are then simply files
like all other files, eg they don't provide pointers to other files.
 
See the List Owners' manual, I forget what page, I just drove 600 miles
back from Indiana today. :)
