Any time you have an subscriber who has a "funny" character
in their userid, whom you are unable to DELETE, simply replace
each occurrence of the "funny" character with a asterisk
 
DEL listname *PETE*WEISS*@PSU.EDU
 
where each "*" represented one or more (contiguous)
"funny" characters.
