Does anyone know how often a list is created in BITNET?  The Internet?
From the New-List list I have some idea, but surely it's not a
requirement that everyone creating a list post to NEW-LIST, is it?
 
My point is, sometimes a new list has a similar audience to another
list.  In those cases, I don't mind the announcement; indeed, I welcome
the tip that another list I might be interested in has been created.
 
On the other hand, I'd hate to see an announcement for POLITICS on
IBM-MAIN, or vice versa.  But I wouldn't unconditionally denounce new
list announcements on lists besides NEW-LIST.
