The discussion is not about making the list of subscribers non public,
which makes perfect sense, but about making the list header non public,
that is, the name of the list, the various configuration options, and the
description of the list that you normally find in the header. This has
nothing to do with privacy as it does not include anyone's name, except
for the list owner's, but then it seems difficult to run a large list
without revealing your name :-)
