(1) Try semi-moderation instead of private;
(2) I have been asking for the same thing on this list for 2 years or more;
(3) Make people aware that they need to have a currently valid address on
    the list (and keep it so).  Try the CONFIRM process once the fix that
    Eric has for it's little problem is working on your server; that will
    go a LONG way towards making things better.
(4) The letter A thing assumes people spam starting with A.  That's not at
    all always the case and doesn't help much, as far as I can see.
(5) Sizelim is ALWAYS a good thing to have, for other reasons too: it helps
    discourage UUENCODEd files and crazy loopbacks as well.
(6) Do the best you can!
