This question has been (more than<g>) adequately answered already; but I
did want to offer an observation. Oftentimes, when a hard-space is
desired (for example, spacing in an HTML doc), Windows users can press
ALT-255 (must be numpad numbers) with NumLock on, or with NumLock off
ALT-SHIFT-255. This will give you a hardspace. I have used it many a
time when a regular space (ALT-32) won't cut it.
