The naming convention WAS:

1) listname one-2-eight positions either starting with L- or ending with -L

2) hostname one-2-eight (Bitnet)

Times have changed, and so has LISTSERV(R).  ListNames can be longer (32?).

Don't forget to SEARCH the various list catalogues e.g., CATALIST to make
sure that you don't duplicate someone else's name, not that you can't.
