I believe that it works this way:

Listserv sends out emails.  Most reach the proper adressee.
Some bounce back to the listserv, some bounce back to
"owner-listname@..." depending on how RFCwhichever compliant the bouncer
is.
The ones sent to owner-listname are forwarded to the owner(s)
immediately.
The ones sent back to the listserv are scanned and if listserv can
figure out what caused the bounce, it goes in the next error report,
otherwise goes to the address(es) in * Errors-To=.

The beginning of the bounce usually has a note from Listserv with some
reason why you are getting it.  Look at the next one you get.
