On my lists, I've set confirmation relatively low (one list is at one
month as it is necessary, others are at four months I believe).  I've
found it most helpful for weeding out people that go nomail and never
come back, or for people that lurk, really don't care to read and find it
an easy way to get off the lists.
 
Your milage may, of course, vary.
