As the local site administrator, I own a list with a configuration that
includes a statement granting ownership privileges to list subscribers,
as in Pete's example above. When a list owner needs a place to "play"
with various list configuration options, either as a learning exercise
or to test potential changes for an existing list, I instruct that
individual to subscribe to my "list owner's playground" list. After I
approve the subscription request, the new subscriber can make changes to
the list configuration and test the impact without affecting the operation
of a "real" list. When he/she is done testing, he/she can simply signoff.
