The IT person is almost certianly mistaken. Similar behaviour has
been experienced on Hotmail, where people who are not subscribed to a
list, start recieving mail from a list they do not belong to. As I
understand it, it has something to do with using distribute, and what
Hotmail was doing was sending a copy of every message from every list on a
server, to all people who were subscribed to a list on that server. Or,
something like that. Listserv would NOT send to an address that is not
subscribed, as it is NOT aware of that address. The only possible
Listserv problem is if the second address is subscribed to another list on
the server, possibly both addresses are subscribed, and listserv THEN
looks at them as equivelent.
Have you tried to bcc: to the addresses in question? What about
subscribing the second address?
